Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals save young lives across the U.S. every day. Now you can make an even greater difference to children coping with serious illnesses and injuries in your own community.
All you have to do is vote.
Now through December 19th, we invite you to participate in the Credit Unions for Kids Vote for Miracles Contest. Sponsored by CO-OP Financial Services and CU Direct, the Vote for Miracles Contest will distribute $100,000 in much-needed funds to five winning Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals – those that receive the most votes from within their respective credit union communities by the contest deadline.
To help drive your local hospital to the top of the rankings, we encourage you to get the word out. Employees, members and others in your community can cast their votes daily on the official Vote for Miracles website through December 19th – and can also invite friends and family members to vote simply by sharing social media links.
“The Vote for Miracles Contest is in its second year, and we are well outpacing last year’s participation, with nearly 93,000 voters recognizing 140 hospitals and 2,300 credit unions,” said Joe Dearborn, senior director, Credit Unions for Kids, part of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. “This initiative allows us to make a real difference in the lives of children – and to share with the public the wonderful news about what credit unions are doing for communities. Without support from CO-OP, we wouldn’t be able to conduct this campaign and provide these critical funds to our winning hospitals.”
Millions of Miracles Each Year
More than 10 million children enter a non-profit Children’s Miracle Network Hospital each year, and every child receives the state-of-the-art medical treatment, personal attention and compassionate family support he or she deserves – regardless of the patient’s ability to pay.
This world-class standard of care is made possible through donations and community support, as Medicaid and insurance programs do not fully cover the costs.
Since 1983, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals supporters have helped raise more than $5 billion, most of it donated $1 at a time. Credit unions have played a key role in this success.
In fact, credit unions have raised $170 million for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals over the past two decades, working closely with organizations like CO-OP and Credit Unions for Kids.
In 2016 alone, credit unions raised $3.8 million by participating in CO-OP’s Miracle Match program. This annual philanthropy calls on credit unions to fundraise for Children’s Hospitals – donations that are then matched by CO-OP up to $1 million each year. Since its inception in 2008, CO-OP Miracle Match has sponsored thousands of Credit Unions for Kids events, generating more than $12 million overall for this very worthy cause.
“The Vote for Miracles Contest complements our Miracle Match program well and reflects the spirit of giving that defines the credit union movement,” said Joe Franklin, vice president, experiential marketing and engagement, for CO-OP. “Both initiatives provide a great way for credit unions to give back meaningfully while strengthening the bonds between their employees, members and the communities they serve.”
